Letter from Charles Ora Card, 14 November 1897
Prest. Wilford Woodruff Geo. Q. Cannon Joseph F. Smith Salt Lake City Utah u. s. a. Dear Brethren I have just received a report from the Manatoba Mission to the effect they are prospering more favorably than in the past. The brethren (7 in number) began their labors in Brandon and Winnepeg Man. last February and up to Sep; last had baptized but one person; Since that time have Baptized five more which tends to make the spirit of the Elders very buoyant yet they have only in part been able to sustain themselves In Manatoba the winters are so severe and snow so deep it is unsafe to travel on foot across the bleek Prairies; Consequently we confine our labors to the towns and Cities and the most densely populated districts and visit the sparsely settled portions during the summer seasons
