Gideon William Alvord
Gideon William Alvord (1841-1918) was born 8 Feb. 1841 in Lee Co., Iowa. He was the son of Thaddeus Alvord and Sally Sallastina Briggs and a distant relative of Wilford Woodruff. He married Sarah Ann Shupe on 16 Sep. 1860 in North Ogden, Weber Co., Utah Territory; participated in plural marriage. He subsequently married Mary Ann Franklin on 2 Dec. 1908 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake Co., Utah; widowed 17 Oct. 1912. He married Carolina Louisa Hammel on 14 May 1913 in Salt Lake City. He was baptized in 1851. Wilford Woodruff wrote him a letter on 1 Feb. 1882. He died 4 Dec. 1918 in North Ogden.
