John Vance
John Vance (1794–1882) was born 8 Nov. 1794 in Cocke Co., Tennessee. He was the son of James Vance and Margaret Reno. He married Sarah Perkins in 1818 in Jackson Co., Tennessee; widowed in 1836. He married Elizabeth Campbell on 2 Mar. 1837 in McDonough Co., Illinois. He was baptized in 1839. He hosted Wilford Woodruff in 1839 in McDonough Co., Illinois, and later, Wilford ordained him a Patriarch on 7 May 1873 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake Co., Utah Territory. He died 24 Jan. 1882 in Salt Lake City, and Wilford spoke at his funeral.
